RECRUITING NEWS

Updated: Nov 19, 2020

The Mooroopna Netball Football Club is excited to announce the signing of TIM KAROLIDIS for the 2021 Season. Karolidis has been a star of the Kyabram District Football League in recent Seasons with Tallygaroopna. He was a key cog in the midfield as the Redlegs built their way up the KDFL ladder which culminated in a Premiership in 2018 and Runner Up in 2019.

Karolidis, no stranger to the GVFL, having spent a Season with Shepparton United in 2015, was also a Premiership player with Shepparton East during their Picola League days.

Asked on what led the drive to join the Cats Karolidis said, ''It was a combination of wanting to test myself at a higher standard and not having any regrets when my Football is over that I didn't play more Football at a higher level. I thought John was great when I met with him and I think I will learn a lot playing under him''.

Karolidis, who has finished top 2 in the Best & Fairest in the Redlegs for the past four Seasons and has a 2nd and 3rd placing in the KDFL McNamara Medal as well, will set himself for a big Pre Season to hit the 2021 raring to go. ''My main focus will be trying to get as many miles back in the legs as I can, not having played football this season Pre Season will be really important, and for me, getting used to my new team mates and the way that they play''.

Two team mates at Catland Karolidis is very familar with are Michael Coad, with the pair having played in a Grand Final side at Stanhope together, and Jayden Hexter, who he played alongside at Tallygaroopna.

Cats’ Senior Coach John Lamont has noted some extra strength and size would be a specific target in the Club’s recruiting campaign and was pleased with the commitment of Karolidis to join the Cats. ''Tim is eager at challenging himself at GV level, I applaud that decision to elevate from his comfort zone as an experienced player. I am very much looking forward to working with Tim to achieve his goals which in turn help me drive positive outcomes across the entire club''.

The 4 time KDFL Interleague Representative is set to add to the leadership of the youthful Cats group. ''We have a young playing group group, so Tim’s experience and leadership will be a massive asset both at training and on game day.''

A big welcome to Tim and his family to MFNC.
